Dr Anton de Ruiter

Anton de RuiterI am a Canada Research Chair in Spacecraft Dynamics and Control, and a professor in the department of Aerospace Engineering at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. I am interested in dynamics, guidance, navigation and control of aerospace systems, with a particular focus on space systems.

I received the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Canterbury in 1999, and the Master of Applied Science and Ph.D. degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2001 and 2005, respectively. For my doctoral research, I focussed on multiple objective control system design for systems made up of a number of subsystems. In particular, I developed a method for partially automating the control system design process for such systems. Between 2006 and 2008 I was a visiting research fellow at the Canadian Space Agency in St-Hubert, Quebec, where I was involved in the development of a joint Canadian/Japanese nanosatellite formation flying mission concept. I was an assistant professor in the department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University from 2009 to 2012.
